Theodore asked:

What should I do to start preparing to become a detective? I’m in the United State’s top public high school and I really want to become a detective. I don’t mean to brag about high school but I have a strong talent in deduction and thinking things through clearly and logically and putting together pieces of information. What can I do to become a detective? Its my dream. How can I start preparing myself. Can someone explain the procedure? I really don’t want to be a cop, but a detective.

One Response to “How do I go about becoming a detective? I really want to be one and I am currently in high shcool?”

  1. Perhaps a degree in law enforcement and attending the police academy can help you to reach your career goal. You are gifted to have the deduction ability, and perhaps courses at your school in philosophy such as ‘logic and reasoning’ can enhance that skill.

For general career info: and search ‘police and detectives’.

wikipedia albeit not for professional research had some info on detective work and it stated that in the US, one must have 1-5 years experience as a uniformed police officer. and can search ‘detective’.

    For US colleges:
